President Abdul Hamid on Friday inspected parade at the National Parade Ground and took salute marking the 46th Victory Day.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the parade organised and conducted by Nine Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army.
President Hamid accompanied by parade commander Maj Gen Waker- Uz- Zaman inspected the Victory Day Parade riding on an open jeep and took salute.
Thousands of people from all walks of life witnessed the spectacular two-hour parade.
Aircraft of army aviation, Navy aviation and Rab helicopter enthralled the spectators with fly-past while the aerobatic display by Air force and parachute landing by army paratroopers.
Members of Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Coast Guard, Ansar, BGB and National Cadet Corps participated in the parade. Different ministries also showcased their activities there.
The programme was ended with a spectacular fly-past by Air Force’s MIG-29 and greetings from the band players.
President Hamid accompanied by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also exchanged greetings with the contingents leaders took part in the parade.
The parade ground was decorated with the images of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President Abdul Hamid, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, four national leaders and seven Birshreshthas.
Upon his arrival at the parade venue at 10.00 am, Abdul Hamid was received by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Liberation War Affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque and chiefs of the three services.

Former President and PM’s special envoy HM Ershad, Cabinet members, the Deputy Speaker, the CEC, foreign diplomats, freedom fighters, senior civil and military officers, were present while 27 war heroes from India and a delegation from Russian Armed Forces also attended the event.
